If I Only Had One Wish

If You Had Only One Wish What Would You Ask For?

I was reading this morning about King Solomon, who is believed to be one of the wisest men to have ever lived.  After taking command from his father King David, Solomon was granted one request from God to help him run the nation of Israel.  Here’s what he asked for:
“Give me wisdom and knowledge that I may lead your people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours? – King Solomon. Then God said, “Since this is your heart’s desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people, over whom I have made you King; therefore, wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor, such as no King who was before you ever had.”

Now for the good news:

You are a King/Queen of sorts and God is making the same proposition to you today! How do I know this?  We are promised in several verses of scripture both Old and New Testament’s:

James 1:5If you do not have wisdom, ask God for it. He is always ready to give it to you and will never say you are wrong for asking.”  Or how about Psalm 32:8 “I will show you and teach you in the way you should go. I will tell you what to do with my eye upon you.”  And there’s more: Ecclesiastes 2:26 “For God gives wisdom and much learning and joy to the person who is good in God’s eyes.” And yet even more, Proverbs 2:5-7  “For the Lord gives wisdom. Much learning and understanding come from His mouth. He stores up perfect wisdom for those who are right with Him. He is a safe-covering to those who are right in their walk.”

Take the 30-day Challenge!

For the next 30-days read a chapter of Proverbs a day. This book has 31 Chapters for 31 days. So tomorrow, July 22nd, read Chapter 22.  End each reading asking God for His wisdom and praying the promises above to Him. Since he already knows what you need, specifics are not as important as having the right heart and pure intentions.  The right heart may sound something like this, “Dear Father I need your wisdom to love and guide your people. May your blessings flow, so that I can be a blessing to others for your ultimate glory.  Amen.”

Just do it!
